changehero.global is an impersonation phishing page that presents itself as a cryptocurrency exchange under the Changehero name. It targets people looking to buy, sell or swap Ethereum and Bitcoin. PhishDestroy first detected it on 2026-10-03. As of 2026-10-19 the site still responded, but the host serving its content no longer resolved in DNS, so the phishing pages were not reachable.
How the scam works
The page title, "Buy & Sell Bitcoin, Ethereum | Cryptocurrency Exchange | Changehero", is written to look like a real instant-swap service and to appear credible in search results and shared links. Our classification lists Ethereum as the impersonated brand, while the page title presents Changehero exchange branding. Fake exchanges like this usually ask the visitor to send coins to a deposit address for a swap that never arrives. Some also request login details or wallet information. Anything sent is lost, and victims are often pressed to pay extra "fees" to release funds that do not exist.
Evidence
On 2026-10-15, 4 of 92 VirusTotal engines flagged the domain: alphaMountain.ai, CRDF, Forcepoint ThreatSeeker and SOCRadar. That is a low count, so most security tools would not have warned a visitor. The domain also appears in 4 AlienVault OTX threat pulses, which means other researchers have tracked it independently. Among blocklists, it is currently listed only by PhishDestroy.
Infrastructure
The domain was registered on 2026-10-02 through PDR Ltd. (PublicDomainRegistry.com), one day before we detected it. That short gap fits a site built to go live at once rather than an established business. Traffic passes through Cloudflare (address located in CA), which hides the real origin server. The Let's Encrypt certificate only means the connection is encrypted. It says nothing about whether the operator is legitimate.
What to do
If you sent crypto to this site for a swap, treat it as lost. Do not pay any "withdrawal fee" or "verification deposit" to get it back, and ignore anyone who offers paid recovery. Record the transaction hashes and report them to your exchange and local authorities. If you created an account or entered an email and password, change that password everywhere you reused it and turn on 2FA. Security teams should block the domain and look in proxy and DNS logs for users who reached it after 2026-10-02.
