baobrothersco.shop presents itself as the ordering site of Bao Brothers, with the page title "Bao Brothers - Southampton - Home of Eastern Flavours - Order Now". PhishDestroy classifies it as an e-commerce scam: a fake shop that borrows a real food brand's name to collect payments from customers in and around Southampton who think they are ordering from the genuine business. We first flagged it on 2026-10-11, and it was still online and serving content on 2026-10-19.
How the scam works
Fake shops like this copy a familiar brand's look and wording, then push visitors toward an "Order Now" checkout. The customer enters card details, address and contact information and pays. Typically no food or goods ever arrive. The money is gone, and the card data and personal details can be reused for further fraud or phishing. The added "co" in the domain and the .shop ending are easy to miss when someone searches for the restaurant and clicks the first plausible result.
Evidence
Six of 92 engines on VirusTotal flagged the domain as of 2026-10-12: alphaMountain.ai, ESET, Gridinsoft, LevelBlue, Netcraft and Webroot. That is a modest count, but it includes established web-threat vendors and agrees with our assessment. urlscan.io returned a malicious verdict and specifically marked the page as a fake shop. The domain also appears in four AlienVault OTX threat pulses, so other researchers have tracked it independently.
Infrastructure
The domain was registered through Spaceship, Inc. on 2026-03-26, more than six months before we detected it. That gap suggests it was either held in reserve or operated quietly before drawing attention. It resolves to an IP announced by Malakmadze Web LLC, a Georgian network, with the address geolocated in the United States. Nothing about this hosting links it to the real Bao Brothers.
What to do
If you paid on this site, contact your bank or card issuer immediately. Ask them to block the card and dispute the charge as fraud. Watch your statements for further unauthorised transactions. Treat any emails, texts or calls claiming to be Bao Brothers about your "order" as follow-up phishing. If you created an account here, change that password everywhere you reused it. To order from the real restaurant, use contact details you find independently rather than a search ad or link. Defenders should block the domain, add it to web and mail filters, and report it to the registrar and hosting provider for takedown.
