PhishDestroy threat report

Overview

w3-okx.com.cn is a phishing site that poses as OKX, presenting itself under the exchange's Chinese brand name with the page title "欧易 · okx · 欧易交易所" (OKX · okx · OKX Exchange). It is aimed at Chinese-speaking OKX users who might take the "w3" prefix for an official Web3 portal. PhishDestroy first flagged it on 2026-10-14. As of 2026-10-19 the site was still online and serving its phishing content.

How the scam works

Pages like this copy the look of the OKX login or onboarding flow so visitors believe they are on the real exchange. Anything typed in goes to the operators, including account email or phone, password, SMS or authenticator codes, and sometimes a wallet recovery phrase. With those, they can take over the genuine OKX account or empty a self-custody wallet. Some variants also push fake deposit or "verification" payments that are never returned.

Evidence

The impersonation verdict is backed by several independent sources. VirusTotal shows 16 of 92 engines flagging the domain as of 2026-10-18, including BitDefender, Fortinet, Forcepoint ThreatSeeker, G-Data, Emsisoft, Gridinsoft, CRDF and alphaMountain.ai. urlscan.io rates the page malicious and recognises the OKX brand on it. Spamhaus lists the domain in its DBL as phishing. It appears on the PhishDestroy, MetaMask and SEAL blocklists, and four AlienVault OTX threat pulses reference it.

Infrastructure

The domain was registered on 2026-10-12 through 浙江贰贰网络有限公司, just two days before PhishDestroy detected it, which is typical of a disposable phishing domain set up for a short campaign. The .com.cn suffix and Chinese title fit an operation targeting mainland users. The site is hosted in Hong Kong on the OWGELS INTERNATIONAL CO., LIMITED network (HKISP-AS-AP). It uses a TrustAsia LiteSSL certificate, so the browser padlock shows only that the connection is encrypted, not that the site belongs to OKX.

What to do

If you entered credentials here, change your OKX password immediately from the official app, reset 2FA, and review active sessions, API keys and withdrawal addresses. Also contact OKX support. If you typed a recovery phrase, treat that wallet as compromised and move remaining funds to a new wallet with a fresh phrase. Do not send any further "fees" or deposits requested by the site. Defenders should block the domain, add it to mail and DNS filters, and watch for similar look-alike OKX domains on .cn suffixes.
