PhishDestroy threat report

Overview

verify-protocol.online is an impersonation phishing page aimed at cryptocurrency users. Its name is built around a "verify protocol" theme. PhishDestroy first detected it on 2026-09-11, two days after registration. The site has been offline since 2026-09-12, and it was still dead with no active DNS when checked on 2026-10-19.

How the scam works

Impersonation pages of this kind pose as a trusted service and invent a reason for the visitor to act, such as a "verification" step that must be completed to keep an account or wallet working. The victim is then pushed to enter login details or a recovery phrase, or to connect a wallet and sign a request. Any of these can hand the attacker control of funds or accounts. The page title read "Finanças Simples | Educação Financeira", a Portuguese personal-finance education label, which differs from the impersonation phishing we classified.

Evidence

On 2026-09-11, two of 89 VirusTotal engines flagged the domain: alphaMountain.ai and Fortinet. That is a low count, typical for a domain caught within days of registration. Stronger support comes from crypto-focused blocklists. MetaMask and SEAL both list it alongside PhishDestroy, and Spamhaus carries it in its domain blocklist under the spam category.

Infrastructure

The domain was registered through GoDaddy.com, LLC on 2026-09-09 and was flagged two days later. It went dark one day after that, a short register-use-discard cycle common in disposable phishing operations. Traffic was fronted by Cloudflare, Inc. on an address located in Canada, which conceals the actual origin server. The certificate came from Google Trust Services, routine for sites behind Cloudflare, so it says nothing about the operator.

What to do

If you typed a password on this site, change it wherever you reuse it and turn on app-based two-factor authentication. If you entered a seed phrase, treat that wallet as compromised and move any remaining assets to a new wallet created from a fresh phrase. If you connected a wallet or signed anything, review and revoke token approvals you do not recognize. Defenders should block the domain, check proxy and DNS logs for visits between 2026-09-09 and 2026-09-12, and contact any users who reached it.
