un.helpdeskz.online is an impersonation phishing page that uses the United Nations name, behind a subdomain that reads like an official UN support desk. It targets people who expect to deal with the UN, such as applicants, grant or compensation seekers, and anyone contacted by a supposed UN official. PhishDestroy first saw it on 2026-09-15. It was still online and serving content when last checked on 2026-10-19.
How the scam works
Schemes that borrow the UN's authority usually involve a fake help desk, a promised payout, a job offer or a 'compensation fund.' They try to convince victims to send personal details, identity documents or login credentials, and often to pay processing or release fees for money that never arrives. The "un." prefix on a help-desk domain is meant to make the page look like part of an official support channel. When we checked, the page returned the title "406 Not Acceptable", while urlscan.io still identified United Nations branding on it.
Evidence
On 2026-09-25, VirusTotal showed 10 of 91 engines flagging the domain. They included alphaMountain.ai, BitDefender, CRDF, ESET, Forcepoint ThreatSeeker, Fortinet, G-Data and SOCRadar. That is a minority of engines, but the flags come from several independent vendors, including major endpoint products. urlscan.io returned a malicious verdict and detected the United Nations brand, which matches our classification. PhishDestroy lists the domain on its blocklist.
Infrastructure
The domain was registered on 2026-09-15, the same day PhishDestroy first saw it. This suggests it was set up for immediate use, not left to age. It was registered through Spaceship, Inc. and is hosted on FranTech Solutions in the US, at 198.251.81.188. Its Let's Encrypt certificate gives the browser padlock but says nothing about who runs the site.
What to do
Do not reply to any message or send any payment that points you to this site. The UN does not charge fees to release grants, compensation or job offers. If you entered a password, change it immediately, starting with your email, and turn on two-factor authentication. If you sent identity documents or bank details, alert your bank and watch for identity fraud. If you paid a 'fee,' report it to your bank and to local fraud authorities, and expect follow-up demands for more money. Defenders should block the domain and its IP, and search mail logs for messages linking to helpdeskz.online.
