Its page title, "Trámites de Tránsito | Traspasos y Licencias", promised Spanish-speaking drivers help with vehicle ownership transfers and driver's licenses. PhishDestroy first flagged it on 2026-08-24 and classifies it as impersonation phishing. The site went offline on 2026-09-08, and its domain was still not resolving when last checked on 2026-10-19.
How the scam works
Fake government-procedure sites copy the look and language of a transit authority so visitors believe they are completing an official process. A driver searching for how to transfer a vehicle or renew a license lands on the page and is walked through forms that ask for full name, national ID number, address, plate or license details, and often a "processing fee" paid by card. The victim loses the fee, the card details, and enough identity data to enable fraud or more convincing follow-up scams. The real paperwork is never filed.
Evidence
On 2026-09-02, six of 91 VirusTotal engines marked the domain as malicious: alphaMountain.ai, Forcepoint ThreatSeeker, Gridinsoft, LevelBlue, SOCRadar and VIPRE. That is a modest count, but it comes from several unrelated security vendors, which supports our classification. It was hosted on Hostinger International Limited's network in Lithuania, far from the drivers it targeted. The free Let's Encrypt certificate gave it a padlock icon, which shows the connection is encrypted but says nothing about who runs the site. The whole operation lasted about two weeks before going dark on 2026-09-08.
