tokenbonus.online is an impersonation phishing site. Its name promises a token bonus, and it was built to pass as a legitimate crypto service. Its listing by MetaMask and SEAL shows it was aimed at people holding crypto in self-custody wallets. PhishDestroy first flagged it on 2026-08-17. The domain has been offline since 2026-09-11, and its DNS was still inactive when we last checked on 2026-10-19.
How the scam works
Bonus-themed impersonation pages offer free tokens, an airdrop or a reward that has to be claimed. The claim step is the trap. Victims are asked to connect a wallet and sign a transaction, or to type in a recovery phrase to verify eligibility. Either way, the attacker gains the ability to move the victim's tokens and NFTs, and those transfers usually cannot be reversed. When last captured, the page title read "Just a moment...", which is a browser-check screen rather than the branded content behind our impersonation classification.
Evidence
On 2026-08-30, five of 91 VirusTotal engines rated the domain malicious: alphaMountain.ai, Forcepoint ThreatSeeker, Fortinet, Gridinsoft and SOCRadar. That is a low ratio, so many security products would not have blocked it. The more telling signals come from crypto-specific sources. MetaMask's phishing list and SEAL both carry the domain alongside PhishDestroy, and those are the lists that trigger warnings inside wallets. Three AlienVault OTX threat pulses also reference it, which means other researchers tracked it independently.
Infrastructure
The domain was registered through NameCheap, Inc. and served from Cloudflare, Inc. network space, with the address geolocated to Canada. Because Cloudflare acts as a proxy, the real origin server stays hidden. Its certificate came from Google Trust Services (WE1). The padlock it produced only meant the connection was encrypted, not that the site was trustworthy.
What to do
If you connected a wallet to tokenbonus.online, use a token-approval checker to revoke any allowances or permissions you granted there. If you typed your recovery phrase into the site, treat the wallet as compromised. Create a fresh wallet on a new phrase and move whatever remains, starting with your most valuable assets. Be wary of anyone offering to recover lost funds for a fee, because that is a common follow-up scam. Security teams should block the domain, search DNS and proxy logs from 2026-08-17 onward for any visits, and watch for new bonus or airdrop lookalike domains that use the same naming pattern.
