PhishDestroy threat report

Overview

staffadmin.vip was a phishing page dressed up as Shopee. It carried the page title "Shopee" and targeted marketplace shoppers and sellers who trust the brand. PhishDestroy first flagged it on 2026-09-13. The site has been offline since 2026-09-17, and by 2026-10-19 its DNS no longer resolved.

How the scam works

The page used Shopee's name and look so visitors would believe they were on an official Shopee login, seller or staff portal. The "staffadmin" domain name fits that disguise, but it has no connection to Shopee's real domains. Impersonation pages like this usually ask for account credentials, one-time codes or payment card details, or push victims to make "verification" payments. Anyone who complied risks a hijacked Shopee account, unauthorized purchases or direct card fraud.

Evidence

Twelve of 89 VirusTotal engines flagged the domain on 2026-09-13, including Kaspersky, Fortinet, Emsisoft, alphaMountain.ai, CRDF, Ermes, Gridinsoft and LevelBlue. That level of agreement from unrelated vendors within days of launch is a strong signal. urlscan.io rated the page malicious and independently recognized Shopee branding on it. PhishDestroy lists the domain on its blocklist.

Infrastructure

The domain was registered through Gname.com Pte. Ltd. on 2026-09-10, three days before PhishDestroy detected it. It went dark about a week after registration, a short lifespan typical of disposable phishing domains. It was hosted on the Netsec Limited network in Hong Kong. The free Let's Encrypt certificate gave the page a browser padlock, which proves nothing about who runs a site.

What to do

If you entered a Shopee password on this site, change it now through the official Shopee app. Also change it anywhere else you reused it, and turn on two-factor authentication. Review recent orders, saved addresses and linked payment methods for changes you did not make. If you entered card details or sent money, contact your bank to block the card and dispute the charges, and report the incident to Shopee support. Security teams should block the domain and its hosting address, and search mail and proxy logs for visits between 2026-09-10 and 2026-09-17.
