How the scam works
The "SOLANA SPIN" title points to a spin-the-wheel giveaway, a common lure in which visitors are told they won tokens or an airdrop. To claim the prize, the victim is asked to connect a wallet and approve a transaction or signature. That approval can transfer the victim's SOL and SPL tokens to the attacker instead of delivering any prize. The Solana branding makes the page look like an official ecosystem promotion, so users let their guard down.
Evidence
On 2026-09-15, five of 89 VirusTotal engines flagged the domain: alphaMountain.ai, CRDF, Forcepoint ThreatSeeker, Gridinsoft and SOCRadar. That count is low, so many security products would not have blocked the site while it was live. Two crypto-focused blocklists list it, PhishDestroy and ScamSniffer. AlienVault OTX references it in four threat pulses, which means other researchers tracked it separately.
Infrastructure
The domain was registered through NameCheap, Inc. on 2026-08-28, eight days before PhishDestroy detected it. This short gap is typical of throwaway domains built for one campaign. It was served through Cloudflare, Inc. from an address geolocated to Canada, which hid the origin server. Its Google Trust Services certificate gave it a normal-looking padlock, so the HTTPS icon said nothing about whether the page was safe.
What to do
If you connected a wallet to sspins.xyz, use a Solana approval or delegation checker to revoke any permissions you granted, and move your remaining assets to a fresh wallet.
