PhishDestroy threat report

Overview

sitemuhhtozm9rue.xyz was an impersonation phishing page posing as Firelight. It carried the title "Firelight – The Protection Layer for Digital Assets" to look like the real service. Its targets were crypto holders who would trust a security-branded product with their wallets. PhishDestroy first flagged it on 2026-09-27. It has been offline since 2026-09-30, and it was still dead with no active DNS on 2026-10-19.

How the scam works

Fake security brands work well as bait because victims expect to connect a wallet or hand over sensitive details to get protected. A page dressed as Firelight's "protection layer" typically asks visitors to connect their wallet, sign a transaction or approval, or type in a recovery phrase to "activate" coverage. Any of those steps can give the operator control of the assets the victim was trying to secure. The random-looking .xyz name has no link to the real brand, so the copied title and branding do all the work.

Evidence

13 of 91 VirusTotal engines flagged the domain by 2026-09-29. They include BitDefender, ESET, Kaspersky, Fortinet, Emsisoft, Forcepoint ThreatSeeker, Gridinsoft and alphaMountain.ai. That is a modest share of engines, but it is a strong signal for a site that was only days old. urlscan.io returned a malicious verdict and specifically detected Firelight branding on the page. The domain also appears on the MetaMask, ScamSniffer and SEAL blocklists alongside PhishDestroy, so wallet-focused defenders reached the same conclusion independently.

Infrastructure

The domain was registered through Eranet International Limited on 2026-09-25, just two days before PhishDestroy detected it. That short gap fits a disposable domain bought for one campaign. The site resolved to Cloudflare, Inc. address space geolocated to Canada. Cloudflare sits in front of the real server, so the hosting address does not reveal where the operator actually ran the page. The site went dark about five days after registration, a short lifespan that matches the burn-and-replace pattern of these campaigns.

What to do

If you connected a wallet to this page, review and revoke any token approvals or permissions it may have obtained, and move remaining funds to a fresh wallet if you signed anything you did not understand. If you entered a recovery phrase, treat that wallet as compromised and transfer its assets to a newly generated wallet immediately. Reach Firelight only through channels you have verified yourself, never through links in messages or ads. Defenders should block the domain and watch for lookalike .xyz names that reuse the same page title.
