PhishDestroy threat report

Overview

ruto77nl1.site is an impersonation phishing domain that PhishDestroy first flagged on 2026-09-05, one day after it was registered. Its listing on the MetaMask and SEAL blocklists places it in the crypto ecosystem, where such pages pose as trusted services to reach wallet holders. The site has been offline since 2026-09-11, and its DNS was still inactive when last checked on 2026-10-19.

How the scam works

Impersonation pages copy the look of a legitimate brand so visitors trust them enough to type in secrets or approve actions. In crypto, the goal is usually a seed phrase, a private key, login details, or a wallet connection that signs away control of funds. The page title read "Sorry, the website has been stopped," a generic suspension message, while our classification is impersonation phishing.

Evidence

Three of 90 VirusTotal engines flagged the domain on 2026-09-06: alphaMountain.ai, Forcepoint ThreatSeeker and Kaspersky. That is a low count, but the domain was only two days old at that point, before most engines had caught up. Stronger backing comes from wallet-focused sources. MetaMask and SEAL both block it alongside PhishDestroy, and four AlienVault OTX pulses reference it.

Infrastructure

The domain was bought through Dynadot Inc on 2026-09-04 and was being tracked by the next day, the throwaway pattern of a campaign built to run only briefly. Traffic passed through Cloudflare, Inc. at an address geolocated to Canada, which hides the real origin server from visitors. Its whole active life lasted about a week before it went dark on 2026-09-11.

What to do

If you entered a seed phrase or private key on this site, treat that wallet as compromised and move any remaining assets to a new wallet created on a clean device. If you connected a wallet and signed anything, review and revoke token approvals you do not recognise using a reputable approval checker. If you typed a password for an exchange or other service, change it, enable app-based 2FA, and check for unfamiliar logins.
