PhishDestroy threat report

Overview

ponnoniafinance.online poses as a full-service bank. Its homepage is titled "Home | Mobile Banking, Credit Cards, Mortgages, Auto Loan", the kind of title a real lender would use, and it is aimed at people who think they are reaching their bank's online portal. PhishDestroy first detected the domain on 2026-10-10. On our latest check, 2026-10-19, the site was still online and serving its content.

How the scam works

The page copies the look and wording of a legitimate bank's site, with menus for mobile banking, credit cards, mortgages and auto loans. Visitors then go to a login or application form. Anything typed there, such as usernames, passwords, one-time codes, card numbers or personal details for a "loan application", goes straight to the operators. With those credentials they can sign into the victim's real accounts, move money or open credit in the victim's name. urlscan.io matched the page to a generic banking template rather than one named institution, so the same layout can be aimed at customers of many banks.

Evidence

urlscan.io rated the page malicious. On 2026-10-12, VirusTotal showed 6 of 92 engines flagging the domain: BitDefender, ESET, G-Data, Gridinsoft, LevelBlue and Netcraft. That count is low, which is typical for a site only a week old, and many browsers and filters will not block it yet. The domain also appears in 4 AlienVault OTX threat pulses and is listed on the PhishDestroy blocklist.

Infrastructure

The domain was registered through Dynadot Inc on 2026-10-05, five days before we flagged it. A bank with mortgages and credit cards on offer would not run on a brand-new .online name. The site is hosted on the SpectraIP B.V. network in the Netherlands at 91.230.49.19. It uses a free Let's Encrypt certificate, so the browser padlock only means the connection is encrypted. It says nothing about who runs the site.

What to do

If you entered a username or password on this site, change it now on your bank's real website or app. Also change it on any other service where you used the same password, and turn on app-based two-factor authentication. If you gave card numbers, codes or ID details, call your bank using the number on your card. Ask them to block the card and watch for unauthorized transfers or new credit lines, and consider a credit freeze. Security teams should block the domain and its IP at the DNS and proxy level. They should also search mail and web logs for visits to it and reset credentials for any users who reached the page.
