o-correios.online posed as the parcel-tracking service of Correios, Brazil's national postal operator, under the page title "Correios | Rastreio". It targeted anyone waiting on a delivery who might believe a message about a held or delayed package. PhishDestroy first flagged the domain on 2026-07-29. The site has been offline since 2026-09-22 and was still dead when last checked on 2026-10-19.
How the scam works
Fake Correios tracking pages usually reach victims through SMS or email claiming a parcel is stuck and needs action. The "Rastreio" page looks like the real tracking screen. It shows a status that demands a small release, customs or redelivery fee, then asks for a name, CPF, address and card or payment details. Victims lose the fee itself, and the stolen card and identity data can be reused for larger fraud or targeted follow-up scams.
Evidence
On 2026-09-12, 7 of 89 VirusTotal engines marked the domain as malicious: alphaMountain.ai, CRDF, Forcepoint ThreatSeeker, Gridinsoft, LevelBlue, SOCRadar and Webroot. That is a minority of engines, but the vendors flagging it span several independent threat feeds. Three AlienVault OTX pulses also reference the domain, which ties it to wider tracked activity. Among the major public blocklists, it appears on PhishDestroy's.
Infrastructure
The domain was registered through Dynadot Inc. It was hosted on a DigitalOcean, LLC server in the United States, far from the Brazilian audience it imitated. Its certificate came from Let's Encrypt, so the padlock a victim saw only meant the connection was encrypted. It said nothing about whether the site was genuine. The real Correios service does not run on a hyphenated .online domain.
What to do
If you entered card details on this page, contact your bank right away. Ask them to block the card and dispute the charge, and watch your statements for unfamiliar transactions. If you gave your CPF or address, expect follow-up messages pretending to be Correios, banks or government agencies. Never pay a "fee" through a link in a message. Check deliveries only through the official Correios app or by typing the address yourself. Defenders should block the domain and its hosting IP, and filter SMS and email lures that use Correios tracking themes.
