PhishDestroy threat report

Overview

moonshot-fx.live is a phishing site that borrows the Moonshot name and presents itself as "Moonshot Fx". It targets crypto traders who know Moonshot and may believe this is an official trading or forex offshoot. PhishDestroy first flagged it on 2026-09-14. As of 2026-10-19 the site is still online and serving its content.

How the scam works

Impersonation sites like this copy a trusted brand so that visitors lower their guard. The "Fx" suffix suggests a trading or investment product, which is a common way to steer people toward signing up, entering login details or connecting a wallet. Once a visitor does that, the operators can take over accounts, push the victim to deposit funds that never come back, or request wallet signatures that move assets. Anything typed or signed on this page should be treated as handed to the scammers.

Evidence

On 2026-09-23, 14 of 89 VirusTotal engines flagged the domain, including BitDefender, ESET, Fortinet, G-Data, Forcepoint ThreatSeeker, alphaMountain.ai, CRDF and Gridinsoft. That is a minority of engines, but the vendors come from unrelated companies, and they reached the same verdict independently. urlscan.io rated the page malicious and its brand detection matched it to Moonshot. The domain is also referenced in five AlienVault OTX threat pulses, so other researchers are tracking it too.

Infrastructure

The domain was registered through Dynadot Inc on 2026-09-13, just one day before PhishDestroy caught it. That short gap fits a site built to start luring victims immediately. It is hosted at 198.251.84.200 on the FranTech Solutions network in Luxembourg. Its Let's Encrypt certificate gives it a browser padlock, but the padlock only means the connection is encrypted. It does not show that the site is genuine.

What to do

Do not enter credentials, deposit funds or connect a wallet on moonshot-fx.live. If you signed in with an email and password, change that password wherever you reuse it and turn on app-based 2FA. If you connected a wallet or signed anything, review and revoke token approvals with a trusted approval-checking tool, and move remaining assets to a fresh wallet if you approved transactions you did not understand. Ignore any later demands for "fees" to unlock deposits, because that is how losses get bigger. Defenders should block the domain and its hosting IP and report it to the registrar and host.
