Overview

mixtum.fun is an impersonation phishing page dressed as a Bitcoin mixing service, titled "MixTum — Bitcoin Mixer & Tumbler | No Logs, PGP". It targets Bitcoin holders who want to break the on-chain link between their coins and their identity. PhishDestroy first flagged it on 2026-09-19. The site was still online and serving its content when last checked on 2026-10-19.

How the scam works

Fake mixers use the same pitch as real tumblers: no logs, PGP-signed guarantees, and fresh coins sent to a new address after a short delay. The victim sends Bitcoin to a deposit address shown on the page and waits for mixed coins that never come. Some fakes add a second stage, where a "pending" mix is unlocked only after an extra fee, and that fee is lost as well. Bitcoin transfers cannot be reversed. Mixer users are often reluctant to report losses, which makes this lure profitable for the operators.

Evidence

On 2026-09-29, 12 of 91 VirusTotal engines flagged the domain, among them BitDefender, Fortinet, Forcepoint ThreatSeeker, G-Data, Gridinsoft, alphaMountain.ai, CRDF and Ermes. That is a minority of engines, but the flagging vendors are independent of each other. Beyond PhishDestroy's own listing, MetaMask's and SEAL's blocklists also carry the domain. Three AlienVault OTX threat pulses reference it, so other researchers have tracked it too.

Infrastructure

The domain was registered on 2026-07-29 through Fewmoretaps OU d/b/a Trustname.com, about seven weeks before PhishDestroy detected it. The .fun extension and the short lead time fit a throwaway domain set up for one campaign. The site sits behind Cloudflare, with the address geolocated to Canada, so the real origin server is hidden. Its TLS certificate from Google Trust Services (WE1) only gives the site a padlock in the browser and does not show that the service is legitimate.

What to do

Do not send any Bitcoin to addresses shown on mixtum.fun. If you already did, treat those funds as gone and refuse any request for a "release" or "processing" fee. Save your transaction IDs, report the domain, and ignore anyone offering to recover the coins for an upfront payment, because these offers are a common follow-up scam. If you shared a return address or contact details, expect targeted follow-up messages. Defenders should block the domain and review DNS and proxy logs for visits from their users.
