mide-empress.github.io is a GitHub Pages site that PhishDestroy classifies as impersonation phishing built around the Netflix brand. It targeted Netflix subscribers and anyone likely to trust a familiar streaming login screen. PhishDestroy first saw it on 2026-09-11, the same day it went offline. How the scam works
The page carried the title "Netflix Clone" and reproduced Netflix's look closely enough that urlscan.io recognised the brand on it. A stolen streaming login can be resold, used to lock the owner out, or tried against other services where the same password is reused. VirusTotal shows 11 of 89 engines flagging the site as of 2026-09-15. Among them are ESET, Fortinet, Forcepoint ThreatSeeker, G-Data, Emsisoft, Gridinsoft, alphaMountain.ai and Google Safe Browsing, so the verdict rests on several unrelated vendors rather than one. Google Safe Browsing lists it under social engineering, which is the category that triggers browser warnings for phishing. urlscan.io rated it malicious and detected Netflix branding, and the site is on the PhishDestroy blocklist.
Infrastructure
The 2013-03-08 registration date and the MarkMonitor, Inc. registrar belong to GitHub's own github.io domain, not to whoever ran this page. The operator only needed a free GitHub account to publish under that parent domain. The IP sits on Fastly, Inc. in the US, the CDN that serves GitHub Pages. Free hosting on a trusted domain lets throwaway phishing pages inherit a reputable address and a valid certificate at no cost.
What to do
If you entered your Netflix email and password here, change the Netflix password now and sign out of all devices from your account settings. Change the password anywhere else you used it, and turn on two-factor authentication where it is offered. If you typed card details, contact your bank to block the card and dispute unfamiliar charges. Treat follow-up emails about your Netflix account as suspicious and go to the service directly instead of clicking links. Defenders should block the hostname and report similar GitHub Pages lookalikes to GitHub for removal.
