Overview

meritkingnews.casino presented itself as a casino and betting news destination, with a name that borrows the Meritking label familiar to online gamblers. PhishDestroy classifies it as a gambling site flagged as fraudulent and first detected it on 2026-08-09. The domain stopped resolving and has been offline since 2026-09-11. It was still dead when last checked on 2026-10-19.

How the scam works

Fraudulent gambling sites of this kind lure players with a recognizable-sounding brand, bonus offers or "news" about winning strategies, then steer them to register and deposit. Balances can appear to grow, but withdrawals stall behind verification hurdles, minimum turnover rules or extra "fees" that must be paid first. What victims lose is the money they deposited and anything paid to unlock winnings, along with any personal or card details handed over at sign-up. Crypto deposits are especially hard to recover once sent.

Evidence

Six of 91 VirusTotal engines flagged the domain in a check on 2026-08-23: alphaMountain.ai, Forcepoint ThreatSeeker, Fortinet, Gridinsoft, SOCRadar and VIPRE. That is a minority, but six independent vendors agreeing within two weeks of our detection is a meaningful signal for a newly launched site. Spamhaus lists it in its domain blocklist under the phishing category, which goes further than our gambling-fraud classification. The domain also appears in three AlienVault OTX threat pulses, so other researchers were tracking it too.

Infrastructure

The domain was registered through Dynadot Inc on the .casino top-level domain, an extension chosen to look credible to gamblers. Its active life after our detection was short. It was flagged on 2026-08-09, picked up by vendors by 2026-08-23, and its DNS went inactive by 2026-09-11. Short-lived, brand-flavored domains that vanish within weeks are typical of gambling fraud operations that rotate to fresh names once blocklisted.

What to do

If you deposited money on meritkingnews.casino, do not pay any further "withdrawal", "tax" or "verification" fee. Those charges are how these schemes extract more. Contact your bank or card issuer to dispute card payments, and keep screenshots, receipts and transaction IDs for a police or consumer-fraud report. If you reused a password there, change it elsewhere, and watch for follow-up offers promising to "recover" your funds, which are a common second scam.
