Overview

ledger.net.cn is a phishing page impersonating Ledger, the hardware wallet maker, and is aimed at people who hold or plan to buy a Ledger device. PhishDestroy first detected it on 2026-10-15. As of 2026-10-19 the site is still online and serving its content.

How the scam works

The page presents itself as "Ledger | Secure Hardware Wallet for Crypto" so that visitors believe they have reached the official site. Fake Ledger pages of this kind typically push a bogus firmware update, device sync or security check. That step asks for the 24-word recovery phrase or prompts the visitor to download tampered software. Anyone holding the recovery phrase controls every account derived from it, so the attacker can empty the wallet quickly and the transfers cannot be reversed. Ledger never asks for a recovery phrase on a website or in any app.

Evidence

On VirusTotal, 6 of 92 engines flagged the domain when it was checked on 2026-10-15: Emsisoft, Fortinet, Kaspersky, Netcraft, SOCRadar and Webroot. urlscan.io returned a malicious verdict and identified the Ledger brand on the page. The domain is referenced in 3 AlienVault OTX pulses and is listed on the PhishDestroy blocklist. Overall detection is still modest, so many browsers and security tools may not warn visitors yet.

Infrastructure

The domain was registered on 2026-03-19 through 成都西维数码科技有限公司. It resolves to 211.149.167.228 on the CHINANET SiChuan Telecom Internet Data Center network in China. Its TLS certificate comes from TrustAsia Technologies, Inc. (LiteSSL RSA CA 2025), which means the padlock in the browser says nothing about whether the site is legitimate.

What to do

If you only browsed the site, close it and do not run anything you downloaded from it. If you typed your recovery phrase there, assume the wallet is compromised. Set up a new wallet with a fresh phrase on a genuine device and move any remaining funds immediately. If you connected a software wallet, revoke the token approvals it granted. Defenders should block the domain and its IP at DNS, proxy and mail gateways, and report it to the registrar and hosting provider for takedown.
