How the scam works
Impersonation pages copy the look and wording of a service the victim already trusts. Then they ask for something that service would never request by that route, such as a login, a recovery phrase or a wallet connection. A "Service Status" page fits a familiar lure in which the visitor is told about an outage, a maintenance window or an account problem and is urged to "verify" or "restore access." Anything typed or signed on that page goes to the operators, and the victim can lose account access or wallet funds. The title reads like a neutral status notice, while our classification is impersonation phishing.
Evidence
On 2026-09-24, 13 of 89 VirusTotal engines flagged the domain. They include BitDefender, Fortinet, Forcepoint ThreatSeeker, G-Data, Gridinsoft, CRDF, alphaMountain.ai and Bfore.Ai PreCrime. Spamhaus lists it in its DBL under the phishing category. Besides PhishDestroy, it appears on the MetaMask and SEAL blocklists. Four AlienVault OTX threat pulses reference it, so other researchers have tracked it independently.
Infrastructure
The domain was registered through Gname.com Pte. Ltd. on 2026-09-06, just eight days before PhishDestroy detected it. A short gap like this is typical of throwaway phishing domains. The site sits behind Cloudflare's network, with the visible address geolocated to Canada, so the real origin server stays hidden. A Google Trust Services certificate gives it the padlock icon, but that proves only that the connection is encrypted, not that the site is legitimate.
What to do
If you only opened the page, close it and enter nothing. If you typed a password there, change it on the genuine service right away. Also change it anywhere you reused it, and turn on app-based 2FA. If you entered a recovery phrase, treat that wallet as compromised and move your funds to a new wallet. If you connected a wallet or signed anything, review and revoke token approvals with a trusted approval checker. Defenders should block io-us.icu at DNS and proxy level and search mail and chat logs for links to it.
