PhishDestroy threat report

Overview

grokhubs.com is an impersonation phishing page that presents itself as "Grok Finance," trading on the recognition of the Grok AI brand to look like an official crypto or investment product. It targets people who follow Grok and AI-themed tokens and may assume a finance service carrying that name is genuine. PhishDestroy first flagged it on 2026-09-25, and the site was still online and serving its content as of 2026-10-19.

How the scam works

Impersonation sites like this one put a trusted brand name on a fake financial front end. In this case the hook is "Grok Finance," and the goal is to convince visitors they are using a legitimate platform. Pages of this type usually push victims to sign in, register, deposit crypto or connect a wallet. Any credentials go straight to the operators, and deposited funds cannot be recovered. Some versions then ask for extra "fees" before a withdrawal can be released, which only increases the loss.

Evidence

On 2026-10-01, six of 91 VirusTotal engines flagged the domain: alphaMountain.ai, CRDF, Forcepoint ThreatSeeker, Gridinsoft, SOCRadar and desenmascara.me. That is a small share of engines, but several independent vendors reached the same verdict within days of the domain going live. The domain also appears in four AlienVault OTX threat pulses, so other researchers are tracking it. PhishDestroy lists it on its blocklist.

Infrastructure

The domain was registered on 2026-09-19 through PDR Ltd. (PublicDomainRegistry.com), six days before PhishDestroy detected it. A short gap like that fits a site built quickly to exploit a trending brand. It is hosted on FranTech Solutions in Luxembourg. The site uses a free Let's Encrypt certificate, so the padlock in the browser only shows the connection is encrypted. It says nothing about whether the site is legitimate.

What to do

Do not deposit funds, register or connect a wallet on grokhubs.com. If you already sent crypto, stop all further payments, especially any "fee" required to unlock a withdrawal. Record the transaction hashes and report them to your exchange and to local police. If you connected a wallet, revoke any token approvals you granted and move remaining assets to a fresh wallet. If you entered a password, change it everywhere you reused it and turn on two-factor authentication. Defenders should block the domain and its hosting IP and watch for lookalike Grok-branded finance domains.
