fortrate.xyz was an impersonation phishing site that posed as a service its visitors already trusted, so they would act without second-guessing it. PhishDestroy first flagged it on 2026-09-19. The site was short-lived: it went offline on 2026-09-22, and when it was last checked on 2026-10-19 its DNS was no longer resolving.
How the scam works
Impersonation pages copy the look, wording and flow of a real platform. Their goal is to get you to do something on the fake copy that you would only do on the real one, such as signing in, entering a recovery phrase, connecting a wallet or sending a deposit. The browser tab showed only the bare domain name and no brand, which gave visitors very little to check before they interacted with the page. Anything typed or approved there went straight to the operators, and that usually means hijacked accounts or funds that are gone for good.
Evidence
On 2026-09-20, the day after our detection, 6 of 89 VirusTotal engines flagged the domain: alphaMountain.ai, CRDF, Emsisoft, Fortinet, Gridinsoft and SOCRadar. That is a modest count, which is typical for a domain caught within days of launch, but it comes from vendors that work independently of each other. Spamhaus lists the domain in its DBL as spam. It also appears in 3 AlienVault OTX threat pulses, so other researchers were tracking it too.
Infrastructure
The domain was registered through Dynadot Inc on 2026-09-02, seventeen days before we caught it, and was dead within three days of detection. That burn-and-replace pace is common for disposable phishing domains. It was hosted at 46.29.26.38 on the M/S ROBI TRADERS network in Turkey. Its Let's Encrypt certificate gave visitors a padlock icon, which only means the connection was encrypted and says nothing about whether the site was genuine.
What to do
If you logged in on fortrate.xyz, change that password on the real service right away. Change it anywhere else you reuse it, reset your two-factor authentication and sign out all active sessions. If you typed a seed phrase, treat that wallet as compromised and move any remaining assets to a newly created wallet. If you sent a deposit, do not pay any follow-up "fees" to get it back, and report the transfer to your exchange or payment provider immediately. Security teams should block the domain and the hosting IP, and search their logs for visits between 2026-09-02 and 2026-09-22.
