How the scam works
The page carried the title "fomo | Social Crypto Trading App & Web Platform" to look like a legitimate trading product. Fake exchanges of this kind invite visitors to register and deposit crypto, then show a dashboard with balances or profits that do not exist. When users try to withdraw, the platform typically invents fees, taxes or verification steps that require more deposits, or simply blocks the account. Victims lose whatever they sent, and anyone who reused a password or submitted identity documents also risks account takeover and identity misuse.

The site used a TLS certificate from Let's Encrypt (YE2), so the browser padlock said nothing about whether the platform was legitimate.
