cryptgeon.co poses as Cryptgeon, an encrypted note-sharing tool, under the page title "Cryptgeon - Secure Encrypted Note Sharing". It targets people who trust that kind of service with sensitive secrets, including crypto users passing wallet credentials. PhishDestroy first flagged it on 2026-09-19, and the page was still online and serving content when last checked on 2026-10-19.

How the scam works

Real encrypted note services promise that only the recipient can read a message, and the note self-destructs after viewing. A lookalike copies that interface but runs on the operator's server, so anything typed into it, such as seed phrases, private keys, exchange passwords or 2FA backup codes, can be read by whoever controls the domain. For a crypto user, one pasted recovery phrase is enough to lose the entire wallet. Links to the fake site can also be sent to victims as if they were genuine shared notes.

Six of 91 VirusTotal engines flagged the domain as of 2026-09-29: alphaMountain.ai, CRDF, Forcepoint ThreatSeeker, Gridinsoft, SOCRadar and VIPRE. Infrastructure

The domain was registered through GoDaddy.com, LLC on 2026-02-08, about seven months before PhishDestroy detected it. A gap that long suggests the name was prepared in advance rather than registered and used the same day. The site is hosted on IONOS SE in Spain. It uses a free Let's Encrypt certificate, so the browser padlock only confirms an encrypted connection. It says nothing about whether the site is legitimate.

What to do

If you typed a seed phrase or private key into this site, treat that wallet as compromised and move the funds to a new wallet with a freshly generated phrase right away. Change any password or 2FA backup codes you shared through it, starting with exchange and email accounts. Tell anyone who sent you a link to this domain, or received one from you, that the note was not private. Defenders should block the domain, check proxy and DNS logs for past visits, and warn users never to send wallet secrets through any web-based note service.
