PhishDestroy threat report

Overview

cpanel.outlook-express-repair.com is a credential phishing page titled "cPanel Login". It imitates the sign-in screen of the cPanel hosting control panel and targets website owners, webmasters and hosting customers. PhishDestroy first detected it on 2026-09-25. As of 2026-10-19 the site is still online and serving the phishing content.

How the scam works

Victims are usually sent here by an email or message claiming a hosting account problem, such as expiring service, a full mailbox, or a security alert. The page copies a familiar cPanel login form, and the "cpanel." prefix on the hostname makes the address look like a genuine control-panel link at a glance. Whatever username and password the visitor types goes to the operators. A cPanel login can open the victim's websites, files, databases and email accounts. Attackers can use that access to plant malware or more phishing pages, read or send mail, or take the sites over.

Evidence

Five of 92 engines on VirusTotal flagged the site as of 2026-10-07: CRDF, Forcepoint ThreatSeeker, Gridinsoft, SOCRadar and Sophos. That count is modest, so many security tools will still let the page load without a warning. The domain also appears on the PhishDestroy and PhishFeed blocklists.

Infrastructure

The domain was registered on 2003-07-15 through Dynadot Inc, more than two decades before PhishDestroy detected the phishing page. A long-registered name earns better reputation scores than a fresh one, which means domain age is no sign of safety here. The page runs on InMotion Hosting, Inc. in the US at 216.194.166.12. It uses a Let's Encrypt certificate, so the browser padlock appears normally and proves nothing about who runs the site.

What to do

If you entered credentials on this page, log in to your real cPanel through your hosting provider's own site and change the password right away. Change it anywhere else you reused it, and turn on two-factor authentication. Review your account for unfamiliar email accounts, forwarders, FTP users, cron jobs, API tokens, and recently changed or added files. Contact your host if you find anything you did not create. Defenders should block the domain and IP, search mail logs for messages linking to this hostname, and reset credentials for any user who clicked through.
