Overview

changenoww.org is an impersonation phishing page posing as ChangeNow, the instant cryptocurrency swap service. The domain adds a second "w" to the brand name, a typo that is easy to miss in a search result or a hurried click. It targets people who want a quick coin-to-coin exchange without opening an account. PhishDestroy first detected it on 2026-08-30, and it has been offline since 2026-09-09. As of 2026-10-19 the domain no longer resolves.

How the scam works

The page was titled "ChangeNow | Instant Crypto Exchange" so that it looked like the real swap interface. Fake instant exchanges of this kind ask the victim to choose a currency pair and send coins to a deposit address the operators control. The promised output never arrives, and blockchain transfers cannot be reversed. Some clones also ask visitors to connect a wallet or enter recovery details, which can put a whole wallet at risk, not just a single deposit.

Evidence

On 2026-09-10, VirusTotal showed 7 of 89 engines flagging the domain: alphaMountain.ai, Chong Lua Dao, CRDF, Forcepoint ThreatSeeker, Fortinet, Gridinsoft and SOCRadar. That is a modest count, but it is backed elsewhere. The domain is on the MetaMask and SEAL blocklists as well as PhishDestroy's, and Spamhaus lists it in its DBL under the phishing category. It also appears in 9 AlienVault OTX threat pulses, which means several researchers tracked it independently.

Infrastructure

The domain was registered through Dynadot Inc. It was hosted on the Omegatech LTD network in the Netherlands. The site was active for only about ten days between first detection and going offline, which is typical of short-lived lookalike domains that are replaced quickly once flagged.

What to do

If you sent coins through this site, save the transaction hash and the deposit address you were shown. Report them to ChangeNow's real support and to the exchange where you bought the funds, because some platforms can flag the receiving addresses. Ignore anyone who contacts you offering to recover the money for a fee, since recovery offers are a common follow-up scam. If you connected a wallet, revoke any token approvals you granted. If you typed in a seed phrase, move your assets to a new wallet immediately. Defenders should block the domain and watch for similar misspellings of ChangeNow in DNS and proxy logs.
