How the scam works
Recovery scams target victims a second time. A site dressed as an official helpline or legal service, here using a domain name that suggests a law practice, offers to trace and recover stolen crypto. It then asks for an upfront fee, tax or "case processing" payment, and often for identity documents, exchange logins, or wallet access under the pretext of verifying ownership. No recovery happens. The victim loses the new payments, and any credentials, seed phrases or personal documents handed over can be used for further theft or fraud.

On 2026-09-29, 8 of 91 VirusTotal engines flagged the domain: alphaMountain.ai, BitDefender, CRDF, Forcepoint ThreatSeeker, Gridinsoft, Kaspersky, SOCRadar and desenmascara.me. That count is modest, but several of those engines are major vendors whose verdicts reach a wide range of security products. Besides PhishDestroy, the domain is on the MetaMask and SEAL blocklists, so wallet users protected by those lists should see a warning. Four AlienVault OTX pulses also reference it.
Infrastructure
The domain was registered through Spaceship, Inc. on 2026-09-09, eight days before we detected it. That short gap is typical of a site built for a specific campaign rather than a real organisation. It is hosted on DigitalOcean, LLC infrastructure in the US. It uses a free Let's Encrypt certificate, so the padlock in the browser says nothing about whether the service is legitimate.
