PhishDestroy threat report

Overview

biggerpocketslibrary.shop is a fake online shop that copies the BiggerPockets real estate bookstore. Its page title reads "Real Estate Books | BiggerPockets Bookstore", which targets property investors and landlords who know the brand and expect to buy its titles. PhishDestroy first saw the site on 2026-10-16, and it was still online and serving its storefront as of 2026-10-19.

How the scam works

The site borrows the BiggerPockets name and a familiar bookstore layout so that a visitor believes they are on an official or authorised outlet. Shops like this usually draw buyers with discounted books or bundles, then take card details, payment and shipping addresses at checkout. The order either never arrives or is replaced by something worthless. The buyer loses the purchase price and also hands over payment and personal data that can be reused for fraud or follow-up phishing.

Evidence

On 2026-10-19, VirusTotal showed 8 of 92 engines flagging the domain: alphaMountain.ai, CRDF, Forcepoint ThreatSeeker, Fortinet, Gridinsoft, LevelBlue, SOCRadar and URLQuery. That is a minority of engines, so many browsers and filters will still let the site load without a warning. urlscan.io rated the page malicious and specifically identified it as a fake shop, which matches our classification. The domain also appears in 3 AlienVault OTX threat pulses and on the PhishDestroy blocklist.

Infrastructure

The domain was registered through Dynadot Inc. on 2026-05-22, nearly five months before we detected it. A gap that long suggests the shop may have been taking orders for some time before anyone flagged it. It is hosted on the Malakmadze Web LLC network, with the address geolocated to the US. The free Let's Encrypt certificate only encrypts the connection, so the padlock in the browser says nothing about whether the seller is genuine.

What to do

If you ordered from this site, contact your bank or card issuer now, report the charge as fraud, request a chargeback and ask whether the card should be replaced. Do not pay any extra "customs", "shipping" or "verification" fees the seller asks for. Expect phishing emails or calls that use your order details, and do not reply to them. If you reused a password to create an account here, change it wherever else you use it. Buy BiggerPockets books only through the brand's own channels or major established retailers. Defenders should block the domain at DNS and web proxies, add it to e-commerce fraud watchlists, and report it to the registrar and hosting provider for takedown.
