ballistolcare.shop is a fake online shop posing as a store for Ballistol, the multi-purpose oil and gun cleaning, lubricating and protecting (CLP) product. It targets firearm owners, hunters and hobbyists searching for Ballistol online. PhishDestroy first detected it on 2026-10-10, and the site was still up and serving its shop content when last checked on 2026-10-19.
How the scam works
The page carries the title "World’s Most Versatile Multi-Purpose Oil and Gun CLP | Ballistol" to look like the brand's own storefront. Shops like this usually lure buyers with discounts or clearance sales on a product people already know. The checkout then takes card details and payment, but the order either never arrives or is replaced by something worthless. Victims lose the purchase amount. The payment and personal details entered at checkout can also be reused for further fraud.
Evidence
On 2026-10-16, 13 of 92 VirusTotal engines flagged the domain. The flagging vendors include BitDefender, ESET, Fortinet, Forcepoint ThreatSeeker, G-Data, alphaMountain.ai, CRDF and CyRadar. Detection from that many established vendors is a strong signal for a domain this young. urlscan.io rated the site malicious and specifically marked it as a fake shop, which matches our classification. The domain also appears in four AlienVault OTX threat pulses and is listed on the PhishDestroy blocklist.
Infrastructure
The domain was registered through Dynadot Inc. on 2026-04-16, almost six months before PhishDestroy detected it. That gap suggests it was either kept in reserve or traded for some time before it went live. The site is hosted on IP 188.244.119.235, on a network belonging to Malakmadze Web LLC, which is registered in Georgia, while the IP itself geolocates to the United States. The ".shop" extension and a name pairing the brand with "care" are typical of fake storefronts that borrow a brand's identity.
What to do
If you paid on ballistolcare.shop, contact your bank or card issuer right away to dispute the charge and ask for a replacement card. Keep any order confirmations and payment receipts as evidence. If you created an account there, change that password anywhere else you reused it. Watch for phishing emails that follow up on your "order" and do not reply to them. Buy Ballistol only from the manufacturer or established retailers. Defenders should block the domain and its IP at the web proxy and DNS level, and they should report it to Ballistol so the brand can pursue a takedown.
