How the scam works
Fake shops like this copy the look and product lines of a known brand, then pull buyers in with steep discounts on filters and replacement cartridges. At checkout the victim enters a name, a delivery address and card details, and pays for an order that never ships, or ships as a cheap substitute. The real loss is often larger than the purchase price, because the captured card data can be reused or sold and the contact details feed follow-up scams. A cheap .shop domain and a generic "Top US Water Filter" title let the operators run the store until they move to a new name.
Evidence
On 2026-10-03, 12 of 91 VirusTotal engines flagged the domain. They include BitDefender, Kaspersky, Fortinet, Forcepoint ThreatSeeker, G-Data, alphaMountain.ai, CRDF and CyRadar. That is a modest share, but it comes from several unrelated vendors. urlscan.io returned a malicious verdict and specifically tagged the page as a fake shop, which matches our classification. Among blocklists, PhishDestroy currently lists it.
Infrastructure
The domain was registered through Dynadot Inc. on 2026-07-24, about ten weeks before we detected it. A gap like that leaves time to build the catalogue and start advertising before anyone reports the store. The server sits on the network of Malakmadze Web LLC, a Georgian-registered provider, with the IP located in the US. That location fits a store pitched to American buyers.
What to do
If you ordered from this site, call your card issuer now. Report the charge as fraud, request a chargeback and ask for a replacement card. Watch your statements for small test charges that often come before larger misuse. If you created an account there, change that password anywhere else you used it.
