How the scam works
The vintage jewelry angle suits this kind of fraud. Preloved pieces are one-offs that shoppers cannot easily compare against a retail price, so steep "estate sale" discounts look believable. Victims place an order and pay by card or another method. Then nothing arrives, or a cheap item turns up that bears no resemblance to the listing. Besides the purchase money, shoppers hand over their name, address, phone number and payment details at checkout, and these can be reused or sold.
