How the scam works

Victims browse a convincing catalogue, place an order and pay, usually by card or bank transfer. The goods never arrive, or something worthless shows up instead. The shopper loses the purchase price and also hands over a name, delivery address, phone number and payment details that can be reused for further fraud.
