PhishDestroy threat report

Overview

52crs161.xyz is an impersonation phishing site. It posed as a legitimate service to win the trust of crypto users. Its MetaMask and SEAL blocklist entries point to wallet holders as the intended audience. PhishDestroy first flagged it on 2026-09-19. The site went offline on 2026-09-27, and as of 2026-10-19 its DNS no longer resolves.

How the scam works

Impersonation pages copy the look of a brand people already trust, such as a wallet, exchange or project portal. They then ask visitors for something valuable: a seed phrase, a login, or a wallet connection followed by a signature request. Anything typed or signed goes straight to the operator, who can empty the wallet or take over the account. The page title showed only the bare domain name, so the browser tab gave visitors no hint of which brand was being copied.

Evidence

Five of 91 VirusTotal engines flagged the domain as of 2026-09-25: alphaMountain.ai, Forcepoint ThreatSeeker, Fortinet, Gridinsoft and SOCRadar. That count is modest, so many security tools would not have warned a visitor on their own. The stronger signal is that two crypto-focused lists independently added the domain: MetaMask's phishing blocklist and SEAL. Three AlienVault OTX threat pulses also reference it, so other researchers tracked it too.

Infrastructure

The domain was registered through Dynadot Inc on 2025-08-20, about thirteen months before PhishDestroy caught it. A cheap .xyz name with a random-looking string, held that long before use, suggests a domain bought in advance and switched on when needed. It was hosted on the Trellian Pty. Limited network in the United States. It disappeared roughly a week after detection.

What to do

If you entered a seed phrase or private key on this site, treat that wallet as compromised. Move any remaining funds to a new wallet created on a clean device. If you only connected a wallet or signed transactions, review and revoke token approvals with a reputable approval checker. If you reused a password on the site, change it everywhere you used it and turn on app-based 2FA. Defenders should block the domain and its IP at DNS and proxy level, and search logs for past visits from users who may need follow-up.
