PhishDestroy threat report

Overview

xtroute.com poses as XT.com, a centralized cryptocurrency exchange, and is aimed at people who trade or plan to trade there. Its page title is copied word for word from the real exchange: "Crypto Exchange | Bitcoin Exchange | Buy/Sell Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Altcoins | XT.com". PhishDestroy first flagged the domain on 2026-09-19. As of 2026-10-19 it was still online and redirecting visitors.

How the scam works

Exchange impersonation pages rely on a convincing copy of the real brand, from the browser tab title to the login screen, so a visitor believes they are on XT.com. Anyone who signs in hands their email, password and often a live two-factor code to the operators, who can then log into the real account and withdraw its balance. Some clones also show deposit addresses or prompt users to fund a supposed account. Any crypto sent that way goes straight to the scammers and cannot be reversed.

Evidence

Six of 91 VirusTotal engines flagged the domain as of 2026-09-27: alphaMountain.ai, CRDF, Forcepoint ThreatSeeker, Gridinsoft, SOCRadar and VIPRE. That is a modest count, but several of these vendors classify web threats independently. The wallet-security community also lists it: MetaMask and SEAL both carry it on their blocklists alongside PhishDestroy, and it appears in three AlienVault OTX threat pulses.

Infrastructure

The domain was registered through NameCheap, Inc. on 2025-10-29, almost eleven months before PhishDestroy caught it. That long gap suggests it was held in reserve or used quietly before being exposed. It runs on Amazon cloud infrastructure in Singapore. Its padlock comes from a Sectigo domain-validated certificate, which only proves the operators controlled the domain and says nothing about the site being the real XT.com.

What to do

If you entered XT.com credentials on this site, change your password on the genuine exchange right away. Reset two-factor authentication, revoke any API keys, and review recent logins and withdrawal addresses for changes you did not make. Do not send further deposits or pay any "fees" requested through this domain. Report any losses to XT.com support and your local authorities. Defenders should block the domain at DNS and proxy level and watch for other lookalike domains copying the XT.com title.
