PhishDestroy threat report

Overview

worldwsemax.com is an impersonation phishing site whose page announces itself simply as "WSE". The domain wraps that label in "world" and "max" to pass as an official presence of the brand it copies. Its appearance on the MetaMask and SEAL blocklists points to crypto users as the audience. PhishDestroy first detected it on 2026-09-23. The site was still online and serving its content when last checked on 2026-10-19.

How the scam works

Impersonation pages work by borrowing trust. The visitor sees a familiar name, here "WSE", and treats the site as the real service. The page then asks for whatever the operator can turn into money: account logins, deposits into an account that does not exist, or a wallet connection or recovery phrase. Anything entered goes straight to the scammers, and crypto sent to them cannot be reversed.

Evidence

At the 2026-10-03 VirusTotal scan, 10 of 91 engines marked the domain malicious. The flagging vendors include alphaMountain.ai, BitDefender, CRDF, Forcepoint ThreatSeeker, Fortinet, G-Data, Gridinsoft and Kaspersky. The crypto-focused MetaMask and SEAL blocklists list it alongside PhishDestroy, so wallet users with those protections should see a warning. It also appears in four AlienVault OTX threat pulses, which means other researchers have tracked it independently.

Infrastructure

The domain was registered through Cloudflare, Inc. on 2026-09-21, only two days before PhishDestroy caught it. That short gap fits a site that was built and launched quickly. Its address sits on Cloudflare's network, geolocated to Canada, so the visible IP belongs to Cloudflare's proxy rather than to the operator's own server. A free Let's Encrypt certificate supplies the padlock, which shows the connection is encrypted but says nothing about whether the site is legitimate.

What to do

If you entered a username, password or 2FA code on this site, change that password on the genuine service immediately. Reset 2FA and review recent account activity. If you sent a deposit, stop there and ignore any request for further "fees" to release funds. If you typed a recovery phrase, treat the wallet as compromised and move what remains to a new wallet with a fresh phrase. Defenders should block worldwsemax.com at DNS and proxy level, and search logs for earlier visits from their users.
