PhishDestroy threat report

Overview

ttron.energy is an impersonation phishing page that presents itself as "Rent TRON Energy," a service selling cheaper transaction capacity on the TRON network. The doubled "t" in the name is meant to pass a quick glance from TRON users shopping for lower fees. PhishDestroy first flagged it on 2026-10-08. As of 2026-10-19 the site is still alive and now redirects visitors when they arrive.

How the scam works

On TRON, sending tokens consumes energy, and many users rent energy from third-party providers instead of burning TRX on every transfer. Fake rental pages copy that offer. Victims either pay TRX upfront for energy that never arrives, or are asked to connect a wallet and sign a transaction that hands the operator control over their tokens or account permissions. Either way the victim loses the payment, and a malicious signature can expose everything else in the wallet.

Evidence

On 2026-10-08, VirusTotal showed 13 of 92 engines flagging the domain. The vendors included alphaMountain.ai, BitDefender, Chong Lua Dao, CRDF, CyRadar, Forcepoint ThreatSeeker, Fortinet and G-Data. That is a minority of engines, but it is a varied group of commercial, AI-based and crypto-focused scanners. MetaMask and SEAL also block the domain alongside PhishDestroy, so wallet users with those protections should see a warning before the page loads.

Infrastructure

The domain was registered through eNom, LLC on 2025-07-24, more than fourteen months before PhishDestroy detected it. That long gap points to a name held in reserve rather than one registered and used on the same day. The site is hosted on Hetzner Online GmbH in Finland. Because it currently redirects, the page victims land on can change without any change to the domain itself.

What to do

If you paid TRX here for energy, assume the money is gone and do not send more to "activate" or "unlock" an order. If you connected a wallet and signed anything, review its token approvals and account permissions in a trusted TRON wallet or explorer and revoke anything you do not recognize. If the account's permissions were changed, move the remaining funds to a newly created wallet right away. Rent energy only through providers you reach from a source you already trust, never through a search ad or a link in a message. Defenders should block ttron.energy and watch for other doubled-letter variants of TRON-related names.
