PhishDestroy threat report

Overview

troopwhalesapp.com is an impersonation phishing page that presents itself under the title TROOPWHALE. It targets crypto users who expect to be dealing with that project. PhishDestroy first detected it on 2026-09-29. As of 2026-10-19 the site was still online and serving its phishing content, so it remains a live risk.

How the scam works

Impersonation pages like this one copy the name and look of a crypto project so visitors trust the site and act on its prompts. The usual next step is a request to connect a wallet, sign a transaction or type in a seed phrase to claim, verify or access something. A signature can grant the attacker spending rights over tokens, and a recovery phrase gives full control of the wallet. Either way, the victim can lose their crypto with no way to reverse the transfer.

Evidence

On 2026-10-07, 14 of 92 VirusTotal engines flagged the domain. Those engines include BitDefender, ESET, Fortinet, G-Data, Forcepoint ThreatSeeker, alphaMountain.ai, CyRadar and Gridinsoft. That is a minority of engines, but the agreement across several independent vendors is meaningful. urlscan.io rated the page malicious, though it matched only a generic brand template rather than a named target. MetaMask and SEAL, two wallet-focused security efforts, list the domain alongside PhishDestroy, and it appears in two AlienVault OTX threat pulses.

Infrastructure

The domain was registered through Gname.com Pte. Ltd. on 2025-12-06, nearly ten months before PhishDestroy detected it. It sits behind Cloudflare, with the edge address located in Canada, which hides the real origin server. Its TLS certificate comes from Google Trust Services, so the padlock in the browser only shows the connection is encrypted. It says nothing about who runs the site or whether it is safe.

What to do

Do not connect a wallet, sign anything or enter a recovery phrase on troopwhalesapp.com. If you connected a wallet, review and revoke any token approvals or permissions granted during that session using a reputable approval checker. If you typed in your seed phrase, treat that wallet as compromised: create a new wallet and move any remaining assets to it immediately. Security teams should block the domain at DNS and proxy level and add it to wallet and browser protection lists.
