PhishDestroy threat report

Overview

stakoex.app is an impersonation phishing page that presents itself under the name STAKO, styled as a crypto staking or exchange service. It targets cryptocurrency users who believe they are dealing with a legitimate platform. PhishDestroy first saw the site on 2026-10-16, three days after the domain was registered. As of 2026-10-19 the site is alive and its scam content is still being served.

How the scam works

Impersonation pages like this copy the name and look of a crypto platform so visitors trust them with their accounts and money. A site branded STAKO typically promises staking rewards or trading returns, then asks visitors to sign up, log in, deposit crypto or connect a wallet. Deposits sent to such platforms go straight to the operators and cannot be withdrawn. Credentials, seed phrases or wallet signatures entered on the page can be used to empty accounts and wallets.

Evidence

urlscan.io rates the page as malicious and tags it as a crypto scam. The domain appears on the PhishDestroy, MetaMask and SEAL blocklists, and it is referenced in 4 AlienVault OTX threat pulses. VirusTotal showed 0 detections out of 92 engines when checked on 2026-10-16. Mainstream antivirus coverage therefore lags behind the crypto-focused blocklists, and visitors should not read a clean VirusTotal result as a sign that the site is safe.

Infrastructure

The domain was registered on 2026-10-13 through CloudFlare, Inc. It resolves to 104.21.21.115 on the Cloudflare, Inc. network, geolocated to Canada. That address belongs to Cloudflare's proxy service, which hides the actual origin server. The site uses a TLS certificate issued by Let's Encrypt (YE1), so the padlock in the browser says nothing about whether the site is legitimate.

What to do

If you visited stakoex.app, do not deposit funds or enter any information, and close the page. If you created an account or entered a password, change it everywhere you reused it and turn on two-factor authentication. If you typed a seed phrase, treat that wallet as compromised and move your assets to a new wallet right away. If you connected a wallet or signed transactions, review and revoke token approvals with a trusted approval checker. Defenders should block the domain at DNS and proxy level, add it to mail and web filters, and report it to Cloudflare for takedown.
