PhishDestroy threat report

Overview

stakoplus.com is an impersonation phishing page that presents itself under the name STAKO and is aimed at cryptocurrency users. PhishDestroy first flagged it on 2026-10-16, three days after the domain was registered. As of 2026-10-19 the site was still online and serving its scam content.

How the scam works

Impersonation pages like this borrow the look and name of a legitimate-seeming crypto project, here STAKO, to win a visitor's trust. The visitor is then pushed to connect a wallet, sign a transaction, enter a recovery phrase or deposit funds. Each of these hands control to the operators. A signed approval or a typed seed phrase lets them empty the wallet, and deposits are simply kept. Victims typically lose whatever assets the compromised wallet or account held.

Evidence

urlscan.io rated the page malicious and tagged it as a crypto scam. The domain appears on the PhishDestroy, MetaMask and SEAL blocklists, and it is referenced in 4 AlienVault OTX threat pulses. VirusTotal showed 0 detections out of 92 engines when checked on 2026-10-16, so conventional antivirus coverage had not caught up with this site at that point. Wallet-focused blocklists and sandbox analysis are carrying the detection for now.

Infrastructure

The domain was registered on 2026-10-13 through Cloudflare, Inc. It resolves to Cloudflare's network, with the hosting location reported as Canada (CA). The site uses a TLS certificate issued by Let's Encrypt (YE2), so the padlock in the browser says nothing about whether the site is trustworthy.

What to do

If you only opened the page, close it and do not return. If you typed a recovery phrase or private key, treat that wallet as compromised. Create a new wallet on a clean device and move any remaining assets there immediately. If you connected a wallet and signed anything, use a token-approval checker to revoke permissions granted to unfamiliar contracts. If you entered passwords or personal details, change them and turn on two-factor authentication wherever they were reused. Defenders should block stakoplus.com at DNS, proxy and email gateways. They can also report it to Cloudflare for takedown and add it to internal threat feeds, since antivirus engines did not yet flag it.
