Overview

sipmieswap.com is an impersonation phishing page built on a near-miss spelling of SimpleSwap, the instant crypto exchange. It targets people searching for a quick, no-account way to swap coins. PhishDestroy first flagged it on 2026-09-23, and as of 2026-10-19 the site was still online and serving its content.

How the scam works

The domain swaps the letters of "simple" into "sipmie", a typo-style trick meant to catch hurried visitors or anyone clicking a search result or ad without reading closely. The page is titled "SimpleSwap Review 2024: Anonymous Crypto Exchange Guide", so it presents itself as a review and guide, while we classify it as impersonation of the exchange. Lookalike swap sites usually ask the visitor to send coins to a deposit address or connect a wallet for an exchange that never pays out. Because crypto transfers cannot be reversed, any amount sent is typically lost for good.

Evidence

Seven of 91 VirusTotal engines flagged the domain on 2026-10-03: alphaMountain.ai, Bfore.Ai PreCrime, CRDF, Forcepoint ThreatSeeker, Gridinsoft, SOCRadar and URLQuery. That count is modest, so many browsers and security tools may still let the page load. MetaMask and SEAL list the domain alongside PhishDestroy, which means wallet users get a warning before the page can do harm.

Infrastructure

The domain was registered on 2026-05-28 through Fewmoretaps OU d/b/a Trustname.com, about four months before we detected it. That gap fits a domain held in reserve before going into use. It resolves to 5.188.86.237 on the Global Layer B.V. network, geolocated to Brazil. The Let's Encrypt certificate only means the connection is encrypted and says nothing about who runs the site, so the padlock is no sign of legitimacy.

What to do

Do not send coins to any address this site shows, and reach SimpleSwap only by typing its correctly spelled name or using a bookmark you trust. If you already made a deposit, save the transaction hash and report it to SimpleSwap and to the exchange or wallet you sent from. Ignore anyone offering to recover the funds for a fee. If you connected a wallet, revoke any token approvals granted while you were on the page, and move your assets to a fresh wallet if you entered a seed phrase. Defenders should block the domain and its IP, and watch DNS and proxy logs for other SimpleSwap misspellings.
