PhishDestroy threat report
exodus-io.org is a phishing page that impersonated Exodus, the popular self-custody crypto wallet. Its target was Exodus users looking for the official site, downloads or support. PhishDestroy first detected it on 2026-09-13. The site has been offline since 2026-09-20, and on 2026-10-19 its DNS no longer resolved.
The domain pairs the Exodus name with an "-io" suffix and an .org ending, so it can pass for an official address in search results, ads or chat links. Pages like this usually ask for the wallet's 12-word recovery phrase, often presented as a "restore", "verify" or "sync" step. Some instead push a fake Exodus installer. Because Exodus is non-custodial, the recovery phrase is the whole wallet. Anyone who has it can empty every asset in it from their own device, and the transfer cannot be reversed.
Fifteen of 89 VirusTotal engines flagged the domain as of 2026-09-21. They include BitDefender, ESET, Fortinet, Forcepoint ThreatSeeker, G-Data, alphaMountain.ai, CRDF and CyRadar. MetaMask's and SEAL's blocklists carry the domain alongside PhishDestroy. Spamhaus lists it in its Domain Block List as phishing (DBL_PHISH). Six AlienVault OTX threat pulses also reference it, which shows several independent teams tracked it.
The domain was registered on 2026-09-05 through Hosting Concepts B.V. (Registrar.eu), just eight days before PhishDestroy flagged it. That short gap fits a site set up for a brief campaign rather than a lasting presence. It was served from 87.120.196.112 on the NODE HOST LIMITED network, which is registered in Great Britain, with the server located in Finland. The site went dark only a week after detection.
If you typed your Exodus recovery phrase into this site, treat the wallet as compromised. Install Exodus from its official source, create a new wallet with a fresh phrase, and move any remaining funds there immediately. Never type that old phrase anywhere again. If you ran a file downloaded from this domain, scan the device and assume saved passwords and wallet files were exposed. Remember that Exodus support never asks for your recovery phrase. Defenders should block the domain and IP and check DNS and proxy logs for visits since 2026-09-05. They should also watch for lookalike Exodus domains built on the same naming pattern.

Saved certificate metadata. Certificate dates without a timezone are shown as stored. Transport encryption does not establish that the site is trustworthy.
An estimated time describes an observation window. It does not prove a registrar action or the exact moment a site became unavailable.
Dated changes retained by the monitor and source collectors. Newest observations appear first; source states are not proof of a takedown.

“We are writing to report a phishing website operating at exodus-io[.]org. The name sets the Exodus cryptocurrency wallet beside a suffix shaped to look like part of an official address, and the pages this domain has placed in the search index carry the wallet's product name and its sales language. What the domain publishes is known to us from the search index, because that is the only part of it left open. A search engine holds about nine pages for this host. The front page is filed as "Exodus”

This report combines saved page captures, registration and network records, scanner results and PhishDestroy reporting history. Each source keeps its own observation date. Open a source report to inspect the original result.
The AI-assisted analysis was written on . It describes the evidence available at that time; later source checks can change.
A capture documents what was shown. A scanner result records that provider’s assessment at the time of its check. Neither a valid certificate nor a zero-detection result is a guarantee of safety.
