PhishDestroy threat report

Overview

blockshieldwallet.com is an impersonation phishing site that presents itself as BlockShield, using the page title "Check a wallet — BlockShield" to look like a wallet security or screening tool. It targets cryptocurrency holders who think they are checking whether a wallet is safe. PhishDestroy first saw the domain on 2026-10-07. As of 2026-10-19 the site was still online and serving its content.

How the scam works

Fake wallet-check pages exploit a reasonable instinct: people worried about a suspicious transaction or a flagged address go looking for a tool to scan it. To run the supposed check, these pages typically ask the visitor to connect a wallet and sign a request, or to type in a recovery phrase or private key to verify ownership. A signed approval can let the operator move tokens out of the wallet, and a recovery phrase gives full and permanent control of every account derived from it. Either way, the victim can lose the funds they were trying to protect.

Evidence

On 2026-10-11, 10 of 92 VirusTotal engines flagged the domain, including alphaMountain.ai, BitDefender, CRDF, Forcepoint ThreatSeeker, Fortinet, G-Data, Gridinsoft and Kaspersky. Several of these are established security vendors, so the detection does not rest on a single source. Spamhaus lists the domain in its DBL as phishing. It also appears on the MetaMask and SEAL blocklists alongside PhishDestroy, so many wallet users will see a warning before the page loads.

Infrastructure

The domain was registered on 2026-09-23 through URL SOLUTIONS INC., two weeks before PhishDestroy detected it. That short gap fits a site set up for one campaign. It sits behind Cloudflare, with the visible address in Canada, which means the actual origin server is hidden behind the proxy. The Let's Encrypt certificate only encrypts the connection, so the padlock in the browser says nothing about whether the site is legitimate.

What to do

If you connected a wallet to this site, use a token-approval checker to revoke any permissions you granted, and move your remaining assets to a fresh wallet. If you typed a recovery phrase or private key into it, treat that wallet as compromised and transfer the funds to a newly generated wallet right away. Then stop using the old wallet entirely. Security teams should block the domain at DNS and proxy level. They should also watch for lookalike domains that use the BlockShield name with "check" or "wallet" wording.
