PhishDestroy threat report

Overview

blockscanwallets.com is an impersonation phishing page that presents itself as a wallet-checking tool under the name "BlockShield". The domain name borrows the look of blockchain-explorer branding to make the service seem legitimate. It targets crypto holders who want to know whether their wallet is safe. PhishDestroy first saw it on 2026-10-07, and it was still online and serving its phishing content when last checked on 2026-10-19.

How the scam works

The page title, "Check a wallet — BlockShield", sets the lure. The site offers a security scan of your wallet, a service that worried users are likely to trust. Fake wallet checkers of this kind usually ask the visitor to connect a wallet or type in a recovery phrase to run the scan. A connected wallet can then be prompted to sign approvals or transactions that hand control of its tokens to the operator. A typed seed phrase gives the operator the whole wallet outright. Either way, the victim loses the assets the page claimed to protect.

Evidence

Seven of 92 VirusTotal engines flag the domain as of 2026-10-07: alphaMountain.ai, CRDF, CyRadar, Forcepoint ThreatSeeker, Fortinet, Kaspersky and VIPRE. That is a modest count, but it is backed by stronger signals from wallet-focused sources. MetaMask and the SEAL security alliance both list it, and so does PhishDestroy. Spamhaus classifies the domain as DBL_PHISH. Four AlienVault OTX threat pulses reference it, so other researchers have tracked it independently.

Infrastructure

The domain was registered through URL SOLUTIONS INC. on 2026-09-23, just two weeks before PhishDestroy detected it. That short gap is typical of throwaway phishing domains set up for a single campaign. Traffic passes through Cloudflare's network, with the address geolocated to Canada, which keeps the real origin server out of view. A free Let's Encrypt certificate supplies the padlock, so HTTPS alone says nothing about whether the site is safe.

What to do

If you connected a wallet to this site, open a token-approval revocation tool and revoke any permissions you do not recognise. Then move your remaining funds to a fresh wallet. If you entered a seed phrase or private key, treat that wallet as fully compromised and transfer everything to a new wallet with a newly generated phrase immediately. Do not sign any further prompts the page shows you. Defenders should block the domain at DNS and proxy level and add it to wallet and browser blocklists. They can also report it to Cloudflare and the registrar to support takedown.
