How the scam works
Victims usually arrive from search ads, emails or social posts and land on what looks like Bitbuy's sign-in page. Anything typed there, including email, password and one-time 2FA codes, goes to the operators rather than Bitbuy. With a fresh code in hand, they can log in to the real account immediately, change security settings and withdraw the crypto or cash balance before the owner notices. Some kits also ask for ID documents or recovery details, which can be reused for further fraud.

On 2026-09-24, VirusTotal showed 17 of 89 security engines flagging the page as malicious. The vendors include crypto-focused ChainPatrol, along with alphaMountain.ai, BitDefender, Chong Lua Dao, CyRadar, ESET, Emsisoft and Forcepoint ThreatSeeker. The 2014-03-30 registration date belongs to gitbook.io, a shared documentation platform, so it says nothing about when this operation started. The operators simply created a free subpage on a long-established host. Traffic is served through Cloudflare's network with a Canadian location, matching Bitbuy's home market. What to do
If you entered your Bitbuy credentials on this page, sign in to Bitbuy directly by typing its address yourself. Change your password and reset 2FA, preferably to an authenticator app or hardware key. Review recent logins, withdrawal addresses and transactions, and contact Bitbuy support at once if anything is unfamiliar. Change the same password anywhere you reused it, and watch for follow-up phishing that uses details you submitted.
