bbitbuuyiiogi.gitbook.io is an impersonation phishing page that presents itself as a Bitbuy sign-in screen under the title "BitBuy Login | us". It targets customers of the Bitbuy cryptocurrency exchange. The scrambled subdomain mimics the brand name closely enough to pass a quick glance. PhishDestroy first flagged it on 2026-09-11, and as of 2026-10-19 the site was still online and redirecting visitors.
How the scam works
Victims usually arrive through a search ad, social media post or message promising account help. The page imitates Bitbuy's login and asks for an email, password and often a 2FA or verification code. Whatever is typed goes to the operators, who can then sign in to the real exchange account, change security settings and withdraw the crypto or cash held there. Because the page is hosted on a legitimate documentation platform, the familiar gitbook.io address can make it look more trustworthy than a newly registered domain.
Evidence
Sixteen of 89 VirusTotal engines flagged the address on 2026-09-24. They include crypto-focused ChainPatrol along with BitDefender, ESET, Fortinet, Emsisoft, G-Data, alphaMountain.ai and CyRadar, so the verdict comes from several unrelated vendors. Google Safe Browsing lists it as social engineering, which triggers warnings in major browsers. It also appears on the MetaMask and SEAL blocklists in addition to PhishDestroy's own.
Infrastructure
The operators did not register a domain at all. They created a subdomain on GitBook, a hosted documentation service. The 2014-03-30 registration date and the Cloudflare, Inc. registrar belong to gitbook.io itself, not to this campaign. Traffic is served through Cloudflare's network from an address geolocated to Canada. Abusing a trusted platform this way lets the operators skip registration costs and inherit the parent domain's reputation.
What to do
If you entered your Bitbuy credentials here, go directly to the real Bitbuy site or app and change your password right away. Then reset two-factor authentication and review active sessions, withdrawal addresses and recent transactions. Contact Bitbuy support if anything looks wrong. If you reused that password elsewhere, change it there too, and treat any follow-up "support" contact with suspicion. Defenders should block the subdomain, report it to GitBook for removal, and alert users that Bitbuy logins never live on documentation-hosting addresses.
