PhishDestroy threat report
baosteel.click was an impersonation phishing site built around the name of Baosteel, the Chinese steelmaker. It presented itself as a Secure Document Viewer, the kind of page sent to employees, suppliers and trading partners under the pretext of a shared file. PhishDestroy first flagged it on 2026-09-29. It went offline the next day, 2026-09-30, and its DNS was still inactive at the last check on 2026-10-19.
Document-viewer lures usually arrive as an email that looks like a routine business message, such as an invoice, purchase order or contract supposedly sent by Baosteel. The link opens a page promising a protected file. Before the file appears, the page asks the visitor to sign in with their email or corporate account. Whatever is typed goes straight to the operators. Stolen mailbox access is commonly used to read correspondence, send convincing follow-up fraud such as fake payment-detail changes to the victim's contacts, and reach other accounts tied to the same password.
Twelve of 91 VirusTotal engines flagged the domain on 2026-09-29. The flagging vendors included BitDefender, Fortinet, Forcepoint ThreatSeeker, Emsisoft, G-Data, CRDF, alphaMountain.ai and Google Safe Browsing. Google Safe Browsing classifies it as social engineering, and Spamhaus lists it in its DBL as a phishing domain. Three AlienVault OTX threat pulses reference it, which shows researchers outside PhishDestroy tracked the same infrastructure.
The domain was registered through NameSilo, LLC on 2026-02-23, about seven months before it surfaced as a phishing page. That gap suggests a domain that was held in reserve and activated later for a campaign. It was hosted in Germany on the Datacamp Limited network. It used a free Let's Encrypt certificate, so a padlock icon in the browser said nothing about whether the site was legitimate.
If you opened a Baosteel-themed document link and entered a password, change that password at once, along with any other account that reuses it. Turn on two-factor authentication and sign out all active sessions. Check your mailbox for forwarding rules or filters you did not create. Warn your contacts and finance team, and confirm any payment-instruction change by phone with a number you already know. Defenders should block the domain, search mail logs for messages linking to it, and reset credentials for any user who clicked through.

Google PageSpeed Insights — mobile performance audit of baosteel.click · checked Sep 29, 2026
An estimated time describes an observation window. It does not prove a registrar action or the exact moment a site became unavailable.
Dated changes retained by the monitor and source collectors. Newest observations appear first; source states are not proof of a takedown.

This report combines saved page captures, registration and network records, scanner results and PhishDestroy reporting history. Each source keeps its own observation date. Open a source report to inspect the original result.

A capture documents what was shown. A scanner result records that provider’s assessment at the time of its check. Neither a valid certificate nor a zero-detection result is a guarantee of safety.
