PhishDestroy threat report
forcedrops.run poses as ForceDrop, a Counter-Strike 2 case-opening site. Its Russian-language page title reads "ForceDrop — кейсы CS2, контракты и апгрейды" (CS2 cases, contracts and upgrades). That points squarely at Russian-speaking CS2 players who gamble with skins. PhishDestroy first flagged it on 2026-09-25, and as of 2026-10-19 the site was still online and serving its content.
Lookalike case-opening sites copy a familiar brand's look and drop or add a letter in the domain. Here, "forcedrops" with a .run ending stands in for the real name. Players arrive expecting to open cases, run contracts or upgrade items. They are then pushed to sign in through Steam or to deposit funds and skins. Clones of this type typically harvest Steam credentials or session access through a fake sign-in step, then strip the account's inventory. Victims can lose their skins, their deposited money, or control of the Steam account itself.
Independent detection is thin so far. On 2026-10-06, VirusTotal showed 4 of 91 engines flagging the domain: CRDF, Forcepoint ThreatSeeker, Gridinsoft and SOCRadar. Four AlienVault OTX pulses reference it, so other researchers have tracked it too. Among blocklists, only PhishDestroy lists it, which means most browsers and filters will not warn visitors yet.
The domain was registered through Dynadot Inc on 2026-06-10, about three and a half months before we detected it. That lead time is consistent with a site prepared ahead of active promotion. It resolves to 185.117.73.206 on the Host Sailor Ltd network in the Netherlands. It uses a free Let's Encrypt certificate, so the padlock in the browser says nothing about whether the site is the real ForceDrop.
If you signed in to Steam through this site, change your Steam password right away. Make sure Steam Guard is active, and use "Deauthorize all other devices" to cut off any stolen sessions. Check your Steam Web API key page and revoke any key you did not create, because attackers use such keys to quietly intercept trade offers. Review your pending and recent trades as well. If you deposited money, contact your payment provider about a chargeback. Defenders should block forcedrops.run and 185.117.73.206 and alert CS2 trading communities to the lookalike name.
