PhishDestroy threat report

Overview

rainbet-aus.online presented itself as "Rainbet Australia | Best Online Casino & Crypto Betting 2026". It borrowed the Rainbet name and added a country tag to look like a local edition of a crypto casino aimed at Australian bettors. PhishDestroy first flagged it on 2026-08-15 and classifies it as a fraudulent gambling site. The site went offline on 2026-09-11, and its DNS was still inactive when we checked again on 2026-10-19.

How the scam works

Fraudulent crypto casinos like this one depend on the player's deposit. Visitors are pushed to fund an account in cryptocurrency, often with bonus offers. Balances and "winnings" then grow on screen, but cashing out is blocked, delayed, or tied to new conditions such as verification or release fees. Because crypto transfers cannot be reversed, money sent to the site is effectively gone, and so is any personal or identity data handed over during sign-up.

Evidence

On 2026-08-29, VirusTotal showed 13 of 91 engines flagging the domain. They included the crypto-focused ChainPatrol along with BitDefender, Fortinet, Forcepoint ThreatSeeker, G-Data, Gridinsoft, CRDF and alphaMountain.ai. That is a minority of engines, but the spread across general security vendors and Web3 specialists is meaningful. MetaMask and SEAL both list the domain besides PhishDestroy, so wallet users were warned at the point of use. Four AlienVault OTX threat pulses also reference it.

Infrastructure

The domain was registered on 2026-06-11 through DevExpanse Ltd d/b/a Regery.com, about two months before we detected it. The whole operation lasted roughly three months from registration to going dark. Traffic ran through Cloudflare, and the address geolocated to Canada, but that location reflects Cloudflare's edge network rather than where the real server sat. The cheap .online extension and the brand-plus-country name fit a disposable setup built to be replaced once it is blocked.

What to do

If you deposited crypto on rainbet-aus.online, do not pay any further "fee" or "tax" promised to unlock a withdrawal, because that is how these sites take a second payment. Save your transaction hashes, deposit addresses and screenshots, and report the loss to the exchange you sent funds from and to Scamwatch or the ACCC. If you uploaded ID documents, watch for identity misuse. Change any password you reused there. Defenders should block the domain and look for sibling Rainbet-themed domains using country suffixes.
