PhishDestroy threat report

Overview

bantuanshopee.biz.id posed as Shopee Indonesia's customer support portal under the page title "Pusat Bantuan | Shopee.co.id" ("Help Center"). The word "bantuan" means "help" in Indonesian, so the name and title were built to look official to Indonesian Shopee buyers and sellers. PhishDestroy first flagged it on 2026-08-31. The site has been offline since 2026-09-11, and on 2026-10-19 its domain no longer resolved.

How the scam works

Fake help centers usually reach victims through chat apps, social media or search ads. The lure is often a problem that seems urgent: a stuck refund, a blocked account, an unpaid seller balance or a prize claim. The page then walks the victim through a "verification" that asks for the Shopee login, the one-time codes Shopee sends by SMS, a ShopeePay PIN or bank card details. With those, the operators can take over the account, spend the wallet balance, or push the victim into making "processing" transfers. A real Shopee agent never needs your password, OTP or PIN.

Evidence

urlscan.io rated the page malicious and recognized the Shopee brand on it, which matches our impersonation classification. On VirusTotal, only 4 of 90 engines flagged it as of 2026-09-05: alphaMountain.ai, Forcepoint ThreatSeeker, Gridinsoft and SOCRadar. That low count means most security tools would have let it through. The domain also appears in 4 AlienVault OTX threat pulses, so other researchers were tracking it as well.

Infrastructure

The domain was registered on 2026-08-26 through PT Exabytes Network Indonesia under the Indonesian .biz.id namespace. That is only five days before we detected it, a typical timeline for a throwaway phishing domain. Traffic ran through Cloudflare, so the listed Canadian IP is a Cloudflare edge address and does not show where the real server was. The site had a free Google Trust Services certificate, so a padlock in the browser said nothing about whether it was genuine. It was online for less than three weeks.

What to do

If you entered your Shopee login here, change the password right away from the official app. Then check your active sessions and review recent orders, the ShopeePay balance and any saved addresses. If you shared an OTP, PIN or card details, contact your bank to block the card, and report the incident to Shopee through the in-app support. Change the password on any other account that used the same one. Security teams should block the domain and watch for similar "bantuan" or "help" lookalikes on .biz.id and other Indonesian namespaces that target marketplace users.
