PhishDestroy threat report

Overview

warnermusiccanadastore.shop presented itself as a Warner Music storefront, with the page title "home | Warner Music" and a domain name pointing at a Canadian merchandise shop. Warner Music Canada operates official channels, and nothing here connects this .shop domain to the label. PhishDestroy first saw it on 2026-09-15 and added it to our blocklist. It has been offline since 2026-09-24, and on 2026-10-19 its DNS was still inactive.

How the scam works

The site borrowed a major record label's name and a store-style address, a pattern built to win the trust of fans looking for vinyl, CDs or artist merchandise. On a lookalike shop, the realistic risks are paying for goods that never arrive and handing card details, addresses or account passwords to an unrelated operator. We have not confirmed which of these this site carried out, but brand impersonation on a throwaway shopping domain is the reason it is on our blocklist.

Evidence

Independent detection was weak. On 2026-09-23 none of 89 VirusTotal engines flagged the domain, and PhishDestroy is the only blocklist listing it. Three AlienVault OTX threat pulses reference it, which shows that other researchers tracked it as part of wider activity. Readers should know that the case rests largely on the brand mismatch and our own listing, not on broad vendor consensus.

Infrastructure

The domain was registered through Dynadot Inc. on 2026-07-25, about seven weeks before we detected it. It was hosted on the Malakmadze Web LLC network in Georgia, a long way from the Canadian audience its name targets. It used a free, automatically issued Let's Encrypt certificate, so the padlock in the browser said nothing about who ran the store. It stopped resolving roughly nine days after we first saw it, a short lifespan typical of disposable domains.

What to do

If you bought anything from this site, contact your card issuer or bank, report the charge as fraudulent and ask about a chargeback. Do not wait for an order to ship. If you created an account, change that password everywhere you reused it and turn on two-factor authentication, and treat any emails claiming to be order or shipping updates as suspect. Buy Warner Music merchandise only through the label's or artists' verified stores. Defenders should block the domain and its hosting IP, and watch for new Warner Music store lookalikes on cheap TLDs, because offline domains are often replaced with fresh ones.
