mefex.online is an impersonation phishing site that poses as a legitimate service to win the trust of crypto users. Its listing on the MetaMask and SEAL blocklists puts it squarely in the wallet and crypto space. PhishDestroy first saw it on 2026-08-31, and it was still online with live content on 2026-10-19, more than seven weeks later.
How the scam works
Impersonation pages copy the look of a familiar brand so visitors act on reflex. They log in, connect a wallet, or type a recovery phrase into what they believe is the real service. Whatever is entered goes straight to the operators, who can then take over accounts or empty wallets. The page carries the Russian title "Копирование элемента" ("Copying an element"), which names no brand, while we classify the site as impersonation phishing.
Evidence
On 2026-09-12, 13 of 89 VirusTotal engines flagged the domain. They include BitDefender, Fortinet, Forcepoint ThreatSeeker, alphaMountain.ai, Bfore.Ai PreCrime, CRDF, CyRadar and the Vietnamese anti-scam group Chong Lua Dao. Spamhaus lists it in its domain blocklist as phishing (DBL_PHISH). It also appears on the PhishDestroy, MetaMask and SEAL blocklists, so MetaMask users should see a warning before the page loads. Four AlienVault OTX threat pulses reference the domain, which shows other researchers have tracked it as well.
Infrastructure
The domain was registered on 2026-02-24 through Global Domain Group LLC, about six months before it reached our blocklist. That gap suggests a domain set aside and activated later rather than one put to use right away. Traffic runs through Cloudflare's network on an address geolocated to Canada, which keeps the real origin server out of view. The Let's Encrypt certificate gives the site a padlock, but that only means the connection is encrypted. It says nothing about who runs the page.
What to do
If you typed a password on mefex.online, change it on the genuine service and anywhere you reused it, then turn on app-based two-factor authentication. If you entered a seed phrase or private key, treat that wallet as compromised and move your funds to a new wallet created on a clean device. If you connected a wallet, check its token approvals and revoke any you do not recognize. Defenders should block the domain at DNS and proxy level and match mail and chat logs against it to find users who may have clicked.
